What's New at Kennedy Elementary
4th Annual Kennedy Food Drive is a wrap! The school brought in 531 items for the food pantry. That was 464 pounds of food.
The winning class was 5Sanchez. They collected 125 items. They were the winners of a huge bucket of cheese balls. The food was donated to St. Stephen’s Food Bank and it will be distributed to organizations and people in our community in need.
This year ten 5th grade team competed for the Battle of the Books championship. Teams must read the chosen books and answer questions as a team. Congrats to the winners this year from Mrs. Sanchez’s room, The Reading Nutcrackers. They will go on to represent Kennedy in the District Battle of the Books held May 12th. Check out all the amazing teams in this photo album.
Today our 4 Cool Guys kicked off our Walk-a-thon fundraiser happening at school on Friday, May 12th. I’m sure you have heard about the assembly by now! Perhaps you have seen the collection envelopes. We are hoping to raise money for water bottle refill fountains, art supplies, books for our book room and ipads and laptops! Thanks for supporting Kennedy School! If you would like a peek at our assembly, here you go! The 4 Cool Guys rock!
Meet our new PSA board! Rebecca, Amanda, Amanda and Kelly were voted in Monday night. We look forward to them leading this group next year. If you want to be a part of this amazing group next year, comment here or let the Kennedy office staff know at 552-3900.
Fourth graders across the district attended Loras for Go the Distance Day learning about fitness and staying healthy. They rotated through exercise stations led by Loras students. The event was sponsored by Hy-Vee. Fourth graders did a 5 week fit challenge leading up to the event and had the most participation across the district. They won a smoothie and fruit pizza party at Kennedy to be held later in May. Enjoy the photo album of activities.
