What's New at Kennedy Elementary
2017-2018 Preschool Registration Begins Monday, Feb. 6
Registration for 2017-2018 free four-year-old preschool in the Dubuque Community School District will begin on Monday, Feb. 6. This includes Dubuque’s 13 public schools offering preschool through the Statewide Voluntary Free Preschool Program.
Parents and guardians may register students in person at the selected site, beginning when that site’s office opens on February 6. Proof-of-age, preferably a birth certificate, is required to register a student. A passport or signed immunization record will be accepted if necessary. Initial paperwork can be found online at www.dbqschools.org/preschool.

Greetings to All Members of the Kennedy School Community!
Just as everyone has welcomed me, so do I welcome you to our school. Whether you are returning to Kennedy, or are new to Kennedy, as I am, all of us come together to work, learn, play and grow in a FANTASTIC school environment.
It is appropriate to wish you a “Happy New (School) Year!” It we have not yet met, be sure to introduce yourself and let me know of any questions, concerns or recommendations you wish to offer.

‘Midwest Menu’ in Schools,
Oct. 6
The Dubuque Community School District will join school districts across the Midwest in celebrating the third-annual Midwest Menu event on Thursday, Oct. 6. Over 7,000 students in Dubuque and over 500,000 throughout the region will join in the event, which celebrates healthy, regional, and sustainable school meals.

Another Mrs. Powers Retires
We said farewell to another Mrs. Powers this year. This Mrs. Powers has taught as a resource teacher at Kennedy for the last 16 years. Her students put together a farewell tribute as well. You can view that HERE.

We said farewell to our beloved music teacher, Mrs. Powers on the last day of school as she enters retirement. Some students put together a Mustang Rap, Powers Style to bid her adieu. To view the video click HERE.
